Do you know what? This one's too accurate.

[Ema and Maxim laugh]

I'm not like... I'm not taking this.

It's literally the whole show.

Oh right. It's just broken down.

It is, is it?

Fan theory.

Who would've... Fan theory, yeah.

By @JDandPatrick.

[Owain and Ema laugh] [epic music]

[knife stabs into ice]

[Elrond] You have fought long enough Galadriel.

Put up your sword.

[epic music]

[sword stabs into ice]

Hi, I'm Maxim. I'm playing a Isildur.

Hi, I'm Ema. I'm playing Eärien.

Hi, I'm Owain, and I play Durin.

Let's kick it off, guys.

Come on.

[Maxim] Are you ready for this?

Yeah.

From molliedamon.

Gandalf will make an appearance!

Exclamation mark.

Good theory.

[Owain] Great theory. Good theory.

Good theory.

[Maxim] Well done. Well done you.

[Ema and Maxim laugh]

We're gonna continue that.

Like Bates Motel,

it'll start off making you think it's a prequel

to the films,

but then something will happen in the final season

that will show you

it's not a prequel to the films.

For this show, it'll be the Battle of the Last Alliance,

the designs for that

and how it's shot will be different.

Elendil will defeat Sauron and Gil Galad,

not Isildur.

So it's a total rewriting.

Well, well, what about not Isildur?

It's not a rewriting.

I mean, look at you. Honestly.

I can do some damage with my--

[Ema] Not. Not Maxim Baldry. With my pleats.

I can do some damage with my pleats.

Get Lloyd Owen in there!

Yeah.

[Ema and Owain laugh]

He'll be really happy with that actually.

He's smiling gleefully as we talk about him.

No, I think they've got an interesting theory.

It may not be the right theory,

but we shall see. I think it's a good one.

[Maxim] Right.

[Owain and Ema laugh]

This is from Rick_GSP.

Halbrand will eventually develop feelings for Galadriel,

but she will not correspond.

He will get obsessed with her, and since she's an elf,

he will seek immortality

so both can be together always,

and how's he gonna achieve that?

I love the... There's so much emotion there.

[Owain] Yeah, yeah. They're very excited.

And how is he gonna achieve that?

It's like a pitch.

With a Ring of Power, eventually turning into

one of the canon Numenorean Nazgul's.

It's bold.

[Owain] Wow. I like it.

I really like that.

He's really thought about that.

So will Halbrand eventually

develop feelings for Galadriel?

Maybe.

I mean, there's some sexy shots in the trailer.

[Owain] They are. They're flirty.

[Ema] They are flirty. Aren't they? That could be...

That could be interpreted.

[Maxim] They're always together.

[Owain] Well, it's kinda like...

[Ema] They're on a raft, you know.

If you're on a desert island with someone...

[Maxim] If you're on a raft

in the middle of the sea for so long.

Yeah, this is it. They are. I would say that would be

an absolutely banging storyline.

[Owain] Yeah.

Well done Rick_GSP.

Okay, from SrBolha.

Galadriel is actually Sauron

in his fair form in the show.

[dramatic music] [weapons clanging]

[Maxim] That would be

[Ema] a good show. That would be

such a good trick.

[Maxim] Yeah.

He's shape shifted into her.

Miv is actually playing Sauron.

It would be a very different show,

I'm not sure it's the theory that you might be--

There might be a version on that online somewhere.

But she's quite fiery, you know.

It could happen.

[Maxim] Check. matthewscott74.

[Owain] Right. Yeah.

It will be based off the war of nations,

of the Napoleon IV wars,

since Lord of the Rings is based off

of World War 1.

Tolkien wrote, you know,

the works of Rings from after the aftermath.

[Owain] He saw tragedy. He saw death. Yeah.

Well he was clearly influenced by it.

His friends died.

I think, yes.

World War 1 influenced it.

[Ema] Yeah. Yeah, yes.

Moving on.

From NeutralMonster.

My theory is that we'll see the Blue Wizards appear.

You can't have Tolkien without wizards after all.

Moreover...

There's more to the story.

[Owain] I love it. Yes.

I suspect that the Blue Wizards are already in the show.

Sadoc Burrows, Lenny Henry,

could be one of them in disguise.

[Maxim] Ooh. Ooh.

We should do that after every one.

Kinda spoilers, huh.

He does look at the skies.

The skies are strange.

[Maxim] Yes.

[Maxim and Ema] The skies are strange.

That is a wizard like thing to say.

[Maxim] Yes. Yes.

And you know, he's off a book.

[Maxim laughs] That could be,

Oh, what spells have I got today?

Yeah, and he's seeing a lot of what's happening.

Right? And Gandalf likes halflings.

Your love of the halfling's leaf

has clearly slowed of your mind.

Maybe he could be a Blue Wizard in disguise?

[Maxim] Neutral master. Oh!

Who's looking out for them.

Yes.

Good theory, that.

That's a great theory.

[Owain] Good theory.

From Joshua_Potter.

Mephisto.

Mephistopheles?

He's the true villain

trying to out-evil Sauron and bridge universes

between Lord of the Rings and the MCU.

[Ema] Oh it's an MCU character,

I just embarrassed myself.

I dunno what MCU means.

It's the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Which, I've seen Thor,

the latest one, but that's it.

[Owain] Oh. I'm not

the right person to ask about that.

This is so bad.

I'm not the right person to ask about this sort of stuff.

Is Mephisto... But I've...

Yeah I said Mephistopheles like an idiot.

Well he's probably come from that.

Maybe. But yeah, but I love the

[Ema] MCU stuff, but-- I doubt it.

I doubt that's true.

Sorry.

Okay, this is from TolkienGuide.

Lord of the Rings on Prime have compressed

all of the cities on Númenor into one,

so they can have the royal plot, Muriel/Pharazôn,

and the seafarer plot, Elendil/Isildur,

intertwined without tons of travel/exposition.

It's quite well thought.

Yeah, that's well thought through.

It's almost a review.

It's almost...

[actors laugh]

I think the Tolkien Guide,

I can't mess with the Tolkien Guide.

So yeah, we're gonna continue that.

[Owain and Ema laugh]

From PatrusoGE.

Galadriel hunts traces of Sauron in the North,

trying to continue her brother's work.

[Ema hums] [Maxim claps]

Very astute.

Round of applause.

Number two.

[actors laugh]

There's eight items.

Right. Okay, go on.

You do number two.

After her return to Lindon,

she decides to leave Middle-earth for Valinor.

Oh, so she comes--

I mean, yes, yes yes yes.

Yeah.

She doesn't decide.

Well she is...

She's taken against her will, kinda.

No, she's not.

But I guess there's a decision that is made.

She can rebel. She can retaliate.

And she does.

She goes because Elrond is her friend.

Do you know what?

This one's too accurate.

[Maxim and Ema laugh]

I'm not like... I'm not taking this.

[Ema] Yes. It's literally

the whole show.

Oh, right.

It's just broken down.

It is, is it?

Fan theory.

Who would've... Fan theory, yeah.

By @JDandPatrick.

[Owain and Ema laugh]

HarryDresden1984.

Sounds like an English lad.

We know Adar translates to Father,

and the overall assumption I've heard,

is that he is figuratively taking

this role over some of the orcs,

or that they treat him as a father.

Father figure Adar.

[Owain] Well, yeah. Yeah.

I mean they all look up to him.

I like that, yeah.

Good theory. Well done.

But what if, assuming they're going with

the corrupted elves origin of the orcs,

he's actually their father.

Cue the music.

[Owain] Father... [ominous bell chimes]

What if he is an elf from the beginning of their race,

captured by Morgoth and twisted,

and through some means of reproduction...

[Ema] Some chaste... Maybe captured

along with a female elf...

Oh my god, Harry Dresden,

this is the wrong show.

You're in the wrong show, mate.

[Ema and Owain laugh]

He is the progen--

Progenitor.

Progenitor,

or one of the progenitors of their race?

So it started off interesting,

and then it descended into a show

that I don't think this is.

[Ema] This is not the sort of-- It's not...

It's logical though.

I think so. Yeah.

And you've really, really

given it a lot of thought.

This is really impressive.

I'm speculating that the season begins

with Galadriel and Co., in the North

rooting out the evil.

When they return,

the elves are convinced the evil is gone.

Galadriel is rewarded by Gil-galad

for her service against evil

by sending her to live in Valinor

for the rest of her days.

[Owain] So far...

[Ema] So good. So good.

[Owain] So far better than many.

Yeah, well done. Very well written as well.

However, on the way to Valinor,

there is some kind of problem...

[Maxim] Yes. Yes.

Which is how she somehow ends up on a raft

with Halbrand and other people.

But then the sea monster strikes

and they all die except for Galadriel and Halbrand.

[Maxim] This is very... This is...

[Ema and Maxim sniff loudly]

[Ema] J.D.? Patrick? @JDandPatrick.

Yeah.

[Ema laughs]

Who are then rescued by Elendil

who happens to be sailing around in the area.

They've written the show.

This is..

Galadriel is not being sent intentionally

on a mission to Nemenor or to Valinor.

She is being sent to a retirement home in Valinor.

[Maxim and Owain coo]

That'd be lovely.

Yeah, I like... that would be nice. A good place to live.

Do you know what?

That makes a retiring home sound lovely.

[Maxim chuckles]

Doesn't it?

Yeah.

I'd like to go to a retiring home in Valinor.

Right, it's like heaven.

I'd say that's the best theory so far.

That's very spot on.

Because it's bang on.

100%

[Ema] Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Because they probably do.

[Owain laughs]

I don't wanna go down that hole,

cause then I'll be insecure about my role.

But you go down that hole, don't you?

I stare it right in the face.

No, I remember we were doing interviews in New Zealand

and I got the number of palantir's wrong,

and I spiraled about that.

You did?

Yeah, in an interview.

And I looked it up, I was like, Oh, that's not right.

It's okay, Ema.

I do worry that they know more than I do.

I too worry that they know more than I do.

I three worry the fans will know--

I don't just worry, I know.

I'd say. Yeah. Well, yes I know. Yes.

Thanks so much for watching the Vanity Fair fan theories.

See you later.

[epic music]
