The lady?

As if she's being the lady being pulled out

of the machine.

Here we go.

Hi, I'm Daniel Kaluuya.

I'm Keke Palmer

Brandon Perea.

Steven Yeun.

And we are gonna discuss some fan theories about Nope

with Vanity Fair.

All right.

Let's see all the theories that you come up with, man.

Let's go, let's go.

Let's do this. Let's do this.

I have a feeling it's gonna be more of a message

about colonialism and human panic.

Almost every classic alien movie is turned into

us versus them, a tale about how fear of the unknown

makes us turn into monsters.

And we paint ourselves as the good guys.

Peele is known for the social messages and metaphors

so I have the feeling, maybe the aliens

are coming to help us,

but the real monsters we discover are people.

Maybe we'll kill them first.

And then they get angry and react vengefully.

That's a cool movie.

It ain't Nope

No, it's cool, it's cool, it's cool.

It's cool.

I wanna see a screenplay.

You know what I'm saying?

If you wanna see that, but it's not.

Nope, it's not Nope. No, Nope.

That ain't it.

So it's wrong.

Denied. Keke, keep going

Denied. Okay.

I feel like it's hitting at Casadastraphobia

the fear of being sucked into the sky

and or the fear of openness.

The shot showing flat grounds

and open skies fits so perfect

and the helplessness of it all, especially if it's aliens.

I really love how this has sparked so many ideas

but this is also not even close.

The fear of being sucked into the sky.

They gotta fear for everything when you Google it.

What sucks you into the sky though

that you can have that fear?

Right? Like when did that happen

to somebody that they fear that?

That would be terrible.

That would be terrible!

Like, but could you imagine, I mean, walking around

with that fear is such a

that's such a like anxiety for no reason.

No one's gonna get you.

Mofu_263 said,

I would think a plague

is probably a name for a bad miracle.

What's a bad miracle?

[dramatic music]

It's mostly associated with a lot of biblical reference.

The earth has gone through various plagues from floods

to locus, et cetera.

From a human perspective, it would seem like a punishment.

But from the alien plague perspective

it would seem like an invasion.

To the Pharaoh, they were plagues,

but to Moses, they were miracles.

So whatever is is coming

we could either join it or suffer from it.

Hence, a bad miracle. Who, whoa.

That's interesting.

That's that's you know, that has some coding.

Who's this guy EG_24?

Mofu_263.

She gonna look him up.

Shout out Mofu! Shout out Mofu!

So yeah, man. You got our respect.

Give me some ideas.

You gonna develop something with him.

[all laugh]

I love these theory.

Okay. So blooblop.

I love blooblop.

They said, I wonder if Keke Palmer was meant to look like

and somewhat similar personality to Angela Hill MMA fighter

whose grandparents were Betty and Barney Hill

of alien abduction note.

At least that's where my mind immediately went to.

Immediately?

Yo, no- Immediately?

This is crazy 'cause I'm an MMA fan

and I know of Angela Hill.

Do I look like her?

Nah, you not Angela Hill.

Yeah. Yeah. Keke will whoop ass though.

That she went Immediately.

Immediately saw me and Angela Hill, parents abducted.

That's not the 17th thought?

[Steven] That's the movie. Figured it out.

Shout out to Angela Hill UFC.

All right, got Empty_ Huckleberry150.

Most of the town folk are alien

which is why the valley is unsettling.

Perhaps they've been there for a long time

and the brother was actually the black man riding

on the horse in the historical footage.

Okay.

Would explain his disinterest

and boredom until the arrival of aliens.

And that man is my great, great grandfather.

Great.

Maybe they've even been there so long in human form

and they possibly forgot they were non-human.

Now that's a good movie as well!

They got good ideas.

I'm interested in that.

That's a really good film.

Is that us anyway?

Is that us anyway?

Did we forget that we're non-human?

I always think about this at night.

[Daniel] Human beings in general.

Yeah. I don't know.

I like that guy, Empty_Huckleberry.

They all give some interesting type of vibe.

Also, I want you to read me a bedtime story.

Who?

You. You?

The way you read,

I'm ready to curl up into a bed.

Just drink some hot chocolate.

Just say the word, Keke.

I'll come in with tea.

Daniel's coming to read me a bedtime story.

Mine's just a tweet that says,

NOPE = Not of Planet Earth.

I seen that one. I've been seeing that one.

It could be coded.

Yeah. All right.

You just getting noises from us.

[all mumble]

I've seen the, not a planet earth one a lot.

I mean, the thing is, is any of these

there could be elements and vibes of it,

but it's not it exactly.

They have the Peele-ian vibes.

Have you asked Jordan if he meant to do that?

Yeah, he didn't.

Oh word.

Damn, that's just like-

That's again.

That's what he does though.

He puts something out there

and then everybody can just respond.

It's art.

It's really nuts.

I don't know why he's that way.

But he genius.

I think the movie is about past, present.

Maybe dealing with time travelers

or what's to come in the future.

The same where it reads Jordan Peele from

isn't in typical intro format.

Usually it's, From Jordan Peele.

Could be a play on words.

That's really clever.

But that's because it was upside down, right?

Yeah. Yeah.

Cause it was scrolling up, right?

It was scrolling up.

I mean, you know, you know it be onto something.

[all laugh]

Shot in the dark. No one's hitting, 'cus.

No one's hitting, 'cus. It's crazy.

I love the behind the back.

[Daniel] Not onto anything, I can't lie to you.

DrunkenNinja27 says-

[Brandon] That's a cool name.

Maybe aliens replacing people?

It would fit with one of the many themes in his movies.

Get Out was white people replacing black people

because they thought it was cool.

Us was about the tethered replacing people

because they wanted a better life and to be in control.

And that's all also personal theories

about those movies that I didn't catch.

Well, a lot of people are really taking the human route.

It seems like, because I think Jordan has a quote

of him being like humans are the real monsters type of deal.

Yeah. They take pieces.

So everyone's really running with this whole idea.

And everyone's taken what they think they thought

about the last movies to give them reference for this movie.

It's a whole new film.

It's a whole new thing.

Every movie. Get Out is nothing like Us.

Us is nothing like Nope.

None of them are like each other.

From LucasVerBeek,

I had a feeling this was gonna be aliens.

But now I'm wondering what the twist is.

They're actually government drones, robots.

This isn't earth.

The true villains are the wacky, inflatable,

arm waving tube men.

The bad aliens are actually after something worse.

The aliens are actually demons

and they're all in purgatory-wait.

What?

I watched that though.

Lucas went Pixar with it, but it's like edgy Pixar.

Vial Animation.

Inflatable tube men.

I understand. I'd watch it.

I'd watch it with my kids.

I don't have none yet.

Okay.

All right. Lazyperfectionist25.

I love that name.

There's some evidence to suggest it takes place

in the early two thousands.

During the trailer, James Haywood is seen wearing

an orange jumper with a Scorpion King logo on it.

The movie came out in 2002 and given the ranch

they work on caters for film,

I'd say this is accurate.

And during a scene, James can be seen holding a flip phone

which were popular in early two thousands.

Why the movie has chosen to be set during that period

and not current is unclear yet

but probably plays some sort of significance.

Who is James?

So to explain our character names are not revealed yet

to the general public.

So he done called him James.

He called him James.

He went on IMDB and went crazy.

Yeah. He called you James.

And I'm like James.

Now, who's James?

So you James?

I'm not James.

I'm not.

The detail, the Scorpion King is key.

[Brandon] That's good.

[Daniel] Again, the 2002,

I thought that was a good one, but-

He was paying attention.

Everybody's a detective.

Everyone's a sleuth.

That's a crazy catch, too.

That's like a small logo on that hoodie.

All right.

EZ_Breezy1997, the entire premise is a riff off

of Skinwalker Ranch, a remote ranch

occupied by a small family

that gets visited at night by other worldly creatures.

Keke uses the term,

We got some skin in the game in the trailer.

Since the moment pictures, could move,

we had skin in the game.

And then the image of her turning

into a monster a bit later in the trailer

would indicate that these are skin changers,

beings with the ability to morph

in order to infiltrate society without raising alarms.

The whole thing. That's from one line.

That's from one line. One line.

Skin in the game. One line.

That's a lot, man.

You know what I'm saying?

The whole thing is a movie that came out in 95.

Like how did you get that?

This is nothing but cooby goobey goby.

Like what?

[Brandon] Keep on reading.

All right.

This is exciting

From Moonstoner.

It seems like the people are trapped

in an old timey praxinoscope thing.

Lots of circle imagery, the record player, the horse tracks

the sky and water in that flash being bent.

The everything goes dark scene is what it sounds like.

And looks like when you power down

one of those machines.

[music distorts]

There are times it looks

like an eye watching them in the sky.

And the lady is being abducted from above.

The lady?

As if she's being pulled out of the machine.

I'm hoping that this is an extremely young person

because when did I get promoted to the lady?

I'm not a girl?

No, you're a lady.

So I don't know what to think about this.

Is Praxinoscope-

♪ Is she a girl ♪

♪ Is she a lady ♪

This is interesting, hey.

Trapped in stuff.

And it's a lot of circle imagery.

That was from Moonstoner?

[Brandon] Moonstoner.

[Keke] They was way up.

So they were yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

yeah. They figured it out somehow.

Fivestarszora says Jordan Peele is making a full sentence

out of his movie titles.

Nope. Get Out Us.

Oh, this says, Nope, get us out.

So they even put us in between Get Out.

I don't love this one as much

but I would do a thesis out of that.

Just an art form.

I don't really know

if that is what Jordan's actually trying to do

but I think it's interesting that that did that.

But Nope, get us out, that's clean.

Yeah.

Get us out. So y'all liked his?

If y'all wanna see it all connect.

[Daniel] She got another. You got another one.

Oh, that's me too?

Stanleytuccis-

I'm hold on these names

Stanley Tucci is Armada.

Calling it, I bet we see Scully and Mulder.

And who the hell are they?

[Steven] X Files. X Files.

Why would we see them?

'Cause aliens.

You never watched X Files?

Have you watched it?

I've never watched it.

It seems more like a joke comment.

Yeah. That's gotta be.

That's not a very serious comment.

Yeah, yeah.

'Cause Scully why?

I love those guys I guess, but why would we see 'em?

[laughing] The whole X Files fandom is...
